Lake Iezer-Feredeu is a lacustrine basin formed by the damming of mountain valleys by large landslides in the Fels mountains. Following analysis of lake sediments and research of old historical documents, the lake is over 900 years old. Historical documents attest to the presence of these lakes since the 16th century. Thus, the first documentary mention of Lake Iezer appears in 1594.
